Do I need to notify HSE about my construction project?
Whether a project is notifiable under regulation 6 of CDM 2015, from its working days, the most people on site at once and its person days.
Questions people ask
When is a construction project notifiable?
Regulation 6(1) of CDM 2015: when the construction work on a construction site is scheduled to last longer than 30 working days and have more than 20 workers working simultaneously at any point, or to exceed 500 person days.
Is exactly 30 days or 20 people notifiable?
Not on those alone. The Regulation says longer than 30 working days, more than 20 workers and exceeding 500 person days, so 30 days, 20 people or 500 person days is not over the line - the page checks each one that way.
Who notifies, and when?
The client, in writing to the Health and Safety Executive, as soon as is practicable before the construction phase begins (regulation 6(2)). The notice is displayed in the site office and updated if necessary (6(3)).
Does this make the project compliant?
No. It answers one question from the figures you give it. Pascoe Business Systems makes no compliance claim.

Read before you rely on this. These compliance tools are a starting point, not a decision. The exposure figures, the notification answer, the risk score and the accreditation list are guidance only — none of them is a risk assessment, a HAV or noise exposure assessment, legal advice or a compliance sign-off, and Pascoe Business Systems makes no compliance claim. Current HSE guidance and a competent person decide.
